This is a song that I listen to when I am upset. The mood of the song is mellow and puts me in the feels that makes me think about my past. Also if you have a friend boy/girl and your relationship doesn’t work out the lyrics talk about Drake singing to a girl that left him. All around it is a song that will make you think and feel upset no matter what music you listen to.
KEY TO THE STREETS
This is my favorite song to play in the car with my brother or also known as being on the “aux”. This is a song that is called “Key to the Streets”. Even though our interpretation of the song isn’t the same as the artist it doesn’t matter because you take music how you want to. We think of the car as the key and driving to a destination on the streets. Also the beat always is very catchy and repetitive so it's a song you can sing in the car.
MOCKINGBIRD
This is the one rap song that I listen to with my parents. We both reflect on this because we see how lucky we are by listening about Eminem family issues. Also it shows that parents will do anything for their kids. When things don’t work out it does not mean it is all over. Sometimes time is a cure for family problems.
LAST BREATHE
This is my pump-up song. The song originally comes from the movie creed. The lyrics talk about being a man, not giving up, and hustle. This all relates to my favorite sport, basketball. Also the beginning builds up to a slight base drop which gets me amped. Also we found this song last year on my basketball team. We played it before the biggest games in our lives during city champs to state tournament for CYO basketball.
MAKE ME BETTER
Make me better by Ne-yo and Fabulous is my favorite song to dance to. The beat gives you and R&B feel and you start getting groovy as soon as you start listening to it. Also at my friend’s sister sweet 16 this was the first time I heard it and I immediately started dancing on the dance floor. Ne-yo is also a great dancer which makes it more of a dance song.
JORDAN BELFORT
This is my Summer song. The song Jordan Belfort came out a couple of summer’s ago and it was the big hit for the whole summer. The song was sang by 2 unknown artist who were in College, which made it a big hit for younger kids. In the song they talk about making money and having no worries. Summer is a time of having fun, making money from a summer job, and not having a worry in the world.
WHITE IVERSON
This song is by Post Malone which is talking about Iverson who is my idol for basketball. Growing up watching Allen Iverson was incredible the way he moved, put up points easily. Allen Iverson made the game so fun but also had fun doing it. They talk about him saucin’ which is talking about his skills and his swagger was the fun he had.
Love $ick
This my chill rap song. I listen to this song when I am in the shower, or just hanging on the couch. It has a mix of all my favorite types of music techno, rap , and pop. Also I think it as a winter song because in the song it says “The weather cold, the weather so, chill chilly really penguin feather roll.” This is my winter/chill song because it is a song you listen too when your snowed in. Also it is up beat which draws me to it more.
Forever
This was our soccer team’s song last year. The song represented us bouncing back from 6 straight losses going into the playoffs, We were playing one of our biggest rivals, who was a top 5 team in the state for soccer since 5th grade and we never beat them. The motto was , “we have wanted this forever man”. The chorus shows our motto for the season and how we wanted nothing more than to beat them. We beat them 4-3 in 2OT. I will forever remember this song as motivational and a bounce back song.
Otherside
This song I can relate to, not personally but through for friends and family members. In this song Macklemore talks about addiction and falling into temptations. My mother’s best friend, My father’s brother, and my first cousin all died at a young age from addiction. Macklemore song shows that some people think they are too deep in to do something about it, so they end it all. That is completely false, you need to gain motivation and courage to step up and tell someone. You will walk the road to being clean with many others and family supporting you. This song reminds me of my close relatives and friends that did not bounce back from this. In the song “Oh girl this boat is sinking”, this is referring to people who think it’s over but it is not. You can get help.
I do agree how this can be very relatable especially for people living is a rough community. How Macklemore talks about drugs and very bad things taking over your life. He also talks about how to stay away from that which is very alike to real life.
