Where I'm From - Trevor Paolone

I’ve never been through real struggle
I am uniforms and a high school campus
I am a house in Avalon
I am skiing in Utah, Colorado or Vermont
I am golf at country clubs
I am a loving family and a full stomach
I used to be church, void of meaning
I used to be a weak relationship
I used to be lost, but now am found
I am now a chain with a saint
I am not one of pews but am one of faith
I am not one of Sunday mornings but,
I am one of prayers and crosses
I am one of a strong relationship
I am all of those things mentioned before
But most of all, I am a Christian

  1. I like how you went from the things that you physically have to the things that you have such as religion. I thought this really made this poem very deep and meaningful.

  2. I like the fact that these things become part of you, so you refer to them as "I am x, and I am x." This makes the poem more effective at describing yourself. I also noticed that you sampled Amazing Grace, which connected the things that were presented to you, and the religious things to you
