Hip Hop History- Michael Zeng

Kool Dj Herc: Merry Go Round
- I think it is interesting how he is going to put together a song composed of parts of other songs
- This kind of sounds like a mixtape of bits of songs
- Cool how he called it a merry go round

Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five- The Message
- How he compares his living conditions to a jungle is interesting
- He is explaining the environment he lives in and how he prevents himself from going under

Kurtis Blow- The Breaks
- I like how he compares breaks to many different things
- The environment of where he is singing in looks really fun and interactive

Ice T- 6 in the Morning
- This really relates to society now days how police thinks that all black people are always up to something

Eric B and Rakim- I aint no joke
- I like how he incorporated all the elements of hip hop into this one music video

Slick Rick- Children's Story
- How the streets really influence kids and young people to do bad things and how once they are in they cannot get out

De La Soul- Stakes is High
- How in life there are always risks to be taken and that you may be rewarded or not rewarded

NuThin but a G Thang
- I liked the beat and the album cover

Public Enemy- Fight the Power
- I like how the environment where they filmed this video really goes with what they are trying to say
- How they should go against the goverment and plead for there own rights

- I liked the beat

- I like how she is standing up for all the women out there
- How she is saying that men take advantage of women and the women should stand up for themselves

Krs- One- South Bronx
- I think this really emphasizes where they come from and how the repetition really shows there hometown

Dmx- Ruff Ryders
- I think the video really shows the personality of dmx

Macklemore
- I think it is interesting how he made himself sound really conscious of himself
- How he talks about freedom and how he relates it to real life
- How society stereotypes people these days is very similar to what the video was showing
- I thought it was interesting how there was so much obvious homophobia

Mos Def- Mathematics
- I like how he relates this to the real life situations of many people
- Also how he sings this song to all generations of people such as the children, teenagers, and adults
