- This gave hip hop more of a dance and party vibe instead of focusing on lyrics 

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five - The Message 
- The intro he is talking about the projects 
- He doesn't want to leave but knows that he has too

Kurtis Blow - The Breaks
- It was a very dancey vibe 
- The rhyme scheme is very simple 

Ice T - 6 in the morning 
- He has great flow 
- His voice is really unique 

Eric B & Rakim - I aint no Joke
- graffiti is used throughout the whole video 
- he says he aint joke because many people thought hip hop was a joke

Slick Rick- Child's Story
- he was telling a story of robbing people 
- he told the story still with flow and complicated rhyme 

De La Soul- Stakes is high
- didn't really make me feel anything

Nuthin But a G Thang
- Smoother lighter hearted rap 
- First west coast rap that really broke across the nation 

Public Enemy - Fight The Power
- they incorperated black panther members who would forcefully stand up for their rights 
- they were talking toward historically powerful white figures saying how they were racist and didn't do  anything for the Blacl people 

Wu- Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M
-shows the struggle and hardship with drugs and stealing 

Queen Latifah - U.N.I.T.Y
- she wants unity for the women 
- she tells about the struggle of women with men
- sexuality 

Krs-One - South Bronx 
- Sounds different from tradition east coast rap 
- he says that hip hop started in bronx 

DMX- Ruff Rydas
- he was rough and really tough and expressed it his voice and video 

LL Cool J- Mama said knock you out
- he was tough

Macklemore- Same Love
- Is about people being gay and how the world sees them and how its styterotypical   
- powerful message 
- he really states the message and shows it in the video 

Mos Def - Mathematics 
- he is talking about how the school system is broke and its not giving kids good values
- he shows this by counting throughout his song
