First Day

Getting ready, for the first day, nervous and anxious at the same time,

Out of bed, frightened as ever , not ready to step in line.

On my feet, busy in the head, as I slowly enter the shower,
I feel so worried, tired as a mule, drained without any power.

As I stumble to the bed , with no energy to get dressed,
Somehow i launch myself up, trying to forget my stress.

Put on my clothes, nice and fancy, needy to make new friends,

But sadly my mouth won’t open, so i have nothing to send.

I hop into the car with my backpack in my hand,

just wishing that i could bury my head in the sand.

As I impatiently sat in the car, feeling my stomach flip,

for surely this would be a unpredictable trip.

We waited in the drop line for really quite a while,

But to my surprise as i entered I was greeted with a smile.

  1. This is a very interesting topic that I have never really thought about, but I really like how you explained what a first day is like. I like how you really provided a clear image of what a first day is like. The description in this poem is very good.
