- PnB Rock- My City Need Something
PnB Rock is a rapper from philly, not the city where there's lots of tall buildings, he's from the part of philly where people get murdered, and police treat people wrong. In this song he talks about how his city needs a change, he wants it to be a better place for kids. He also talks about the police brutality that was going on which was very important because that was crazy at one point. I really like this song because usually now a days you hear rappers talking about girls and money but in those song you can tell he actually cares for his city and children's lives, not just materialistic stuff.
2.Lil Durk- Rich Forever
Lil Durk is a rapper from chicago which is also called chiraq because supposedly at one point the murder rate was higher than iraq at one point. In chicago it has a lot of violence, people get shot and theirs drugs everywhere so that's probably what LIl Durk raps about. In this song Lil Durk raps about the people he lost this past summer and deaths that happened before then. Yes he does curse words but that’s because he’s angry about what’s going on in chicago such as people being killed all the time. He also talks about how he came from nothing with his boys so now that he got some money he is going to keep them rich forever. I like this song because this doesn’t only happen in chicago this happens in a lot of other places and Lil Durk just wants to help his people. Lastly, this song is real hip hop/rap because he expresses what's around him and how his life was really like. He speaks the truth.
3. Eric B. and Rakim- I Ain’t No Joke
Rakim was one of the greatest rappers of all time, and he might be the best at using multi-syllabic rhymes since he pretty much started multi-syllabic rhyme. In this song he’s showing how good he is and he even boasts a little talking about how he can treat you like and child and make you freeze up. I also like this song because it has no curse words in it so you can listen to it with your parents, plus they probably already heard this song since they were around our age when it came out. In modern hip hop it is not likely to find a song without curse words. Sometimes curse words can express your anger or the point you’re trying to get across but Rakim does it just fine without cursing. Another thing I like is his simile, especially where he says “ I got a question, as serious as cancer”. I never heard anything like that and I just think it’s cool.
4. Lil Uzi Vert- Woke up thankful
Lil Uzi is a modern day rapper/rock star so in most of his songs he does rap about girls and money but in this song he doesn’t do it so much. He does what any other rapper does nowadays, shows off his money and talk about the diamonds on his watches and chains. But in this song he talks about how he is thankful for getting all of that money. He also is saying thank god for the money he gets. In this song the hooks are good but not so much in the verses, he still just brags about his money. The things I like about the song is that he’s thankful and I also like the flow, it sounds good when you blast it in the car.
5. Tupac- Changes
I like this song because you can tell he’s talking from his heart about his environment needing changes. I also like it because he talks the truth about being, black, poor and about police brutality. I never even knew tupac made this song so when I heard it I was surprised how tupac really feels. This is a very good song.
6. Lauryn Hill- Zion
I don't really like the way the song goes but I do like the lyrics very much. It really defines her and shows how strong and how caring she is. People told her it would ruin her career but she didn’t care, she loved zion. It also shows how thankful she is for zion and it’s just an inspirational song.
7. Kendrick Lamar- Dreams
Couldn’t find a picture for this song but I’ll talk about it anyway. This song is very interesting because in the beginning it really makes you think about what he's talking about. Kendrick Lamar always raps about stuff will leave you stuck because it's just so intriguing. He also relates to his surrounding with poverty and making it out which I like when he does that,
8. J. Cole- Crooked Smile
J cole is a really good rapper who has meaningful lyrics, and here is a good example. His crooked smile talks about more than how it's crooked. One message he tries to get across is to love yourself no matter how you look. Another one is that don’t change the way you look or anything else about you when you get money. Lastly he talks about how women can’t get a man because they worry about how they look all the time and they’re too insecure.
9. Shawn Mendes- Stitches
I don’t listen to this song much but it’s a really good song because I like the way he expresses his feelings through great metaphors. Another thing I like about the song is the rhythm. The music video is also what makes this song even better cause it shows him getting hurt by his emotions over some girl that really hurt him.
10. Andy Grammer- Honey, I’m Good
This is another song I like because of the flow. I also like it because most rappers just rap about getting multiple girls but he just talks about being loyal to one girl which is good for once. Sometimes people just get tired of hearing about all these different girls and treating them wrong. This is a very positive song about girls.
I really like the PnB Rock song because of its message. It is a song I used to listen to a lot and it reminded me of it.
ReplyDeletePnB Rock is a great rapper, I agree, I like the diversity in these songs, from shawn Mendes, to Uzi.
ReplyDeleteI like this mixtape a lot. There is a variety of songs that I can relate too. Changes by Tupac is also a very good song that I listened to when things were not going so well.
