I’m from 3 meals a day, fishing on the bay, and decadent cheese trays

Endless preseason workouts and brussel sprouts

Little sister’s complaining and watching Bob Ross painting

Church every sunday, not ready for monday

I can only eat if I have medication in my pocket

And “you’re only gonna start if you can throw a rocket”

With a parent who needed surgery on their hip socket

To a mother who used to read me bedtime stories and tuck me in at night

To a father who made me drinks with cherry juice and sprite

Sorry Biggie, Puff, and Ma$e but more money makes more opportunity

That's why i'ma try my best to succeed just like MJ did in the windy city

I'm from beach houses in OC and no financial struggles to be seen

Im lucky to be where I am but not everything is peachy clean

I'm in a place where GPA and test grades are the measure of intelligence

Not by personality, opinions, ideas, or personal development

Somedays I'm tired because of 4 hours of homework

Yet I persevere because life is like clockwork
