To my fish - Jackson Tuma

To my fish
You really aren't that cool
I know u not tryna get roasted, you just tryin to bool
I'm chillin here in j-term, a project for school
And they told me to rap so i dedicate this to you
You got the best colors, red white and blue
And you got that kinda attitude, ur almost black cool
Whenever you're hungry, I give you food
Every time I see you, you put me in a good mood
Sorry that our family didn’t give you a name
So when you go to hollywood you won't get no fame
See you're a special fish, and i don't mean it lightly
And you may think i'm joking but i'm not even slightly
We got you at the beach for about 13
And even though you were a small price you mean the world to me
You make me so bubbly, no pun intended
If I didn’t buy you my world would have ended
See at times you are my best friend
And really hope this special friendship never reaches its end
See there's something about a dog, a mans best friend
But a friendship with a fish is worth the money that you spend
And I wish that you understood this language
That you can't hear this song I can't even manage
You know I'll always swim that extra mile
And I hope I didn’t waste time and this was worth your while

  1. This a funny poem, although you never see your fish or spend time with it, you remember the joy it brought to you when you first got it

  2. I could relate to this poem since whenever I see one of my animals it puts me in a good mood, this poem does a good job of displaying your relationship with your fish while also tying in humor.

  3. This poem illustrates that even though you don't talk to your fish you do long for a relationship which I thought was sweet

  5. This was hilarious, and your references and word choice are really clever. Love the second to last line about swimming the extra mile. It totally turns a cliché on its head in a really funny way.
