J. Cole, Love Yourz

I choose J. cole's’ “Love Yourz” because it looks on the brighter side of life. Although J cole often talks about the struggles of racism, drug abuse, and misogyny etc., these lyrics tell of having a positive outlook on what you have. J. Cole says to be grateful for what you have, because from his personal experience being at the top is hard too. The lyrics inspire, for example “there’s beauty in the struggle ugliness in the success”. I think J. cole means the journey of being in poverty has a strange greatness to it, while fame and fortune have a hidden stress and ugliness to it. J. Cole also questions “For what’s money without happiness?" I think J. Cole has struggled with this question a lot, he's had his own struggle to find happiness even though he has all this money. He has all these fans that love him, but he still often finds himself disappointed with humanity and even himself. He sees people killing each other, and people giving into geed. Although J. cole curses an excessive amount of times in this, I think it's only because he wants people to be happy so bad.

  1. I agree, "Love Yourz" is a great song. It's really meaningful because it's almost like a message to people to cherish what they have.
